Time:Receipt Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 23, 2026

Time:Receipt is a Chrome extension that helps users understand how they spend time online by tracking time spent on websites and showing a receipt-style summary in the browser.

Information We Collect

Time:Receipt may collect and store the following information:

  • Website domains and selected paths visited, such as youtube.com or selected product paths like docs.google.com/spreadsheets.
  • Time spent on tracked websites.
  • Website metadata used for labeling and categorization, including page title, meta description, site name, website manifest name, and favicon.
  • Website categories returned by the Time:Receipt backend.
  • Chrome profile email address.
  • Google OAuth token, used only for subscription and access verification.

Time:Receipt does not collect passwords, form field contents, private messages, emails, chats, health information, or payment card details.

How We Use Information

We use this information to:

  • Calculate time spent on websites.
  • Display daily, weekly, and monthly browsing summaries.
  • Show recognizable site names, categories, and favicons.
  • Detect idle time so inactive time is not counted as active browsing.
  • Verify whether a user has access to paid or subscription-based features.

Local Storage

Time spent, website labels, website categories, and cached favicons are stored locally using Chrome extension storage on your device. This data is used to display your activity summary and persist your tracking history.

Data Shared With Third Parties

Time:Receipt may share limited data with the following parties:

  • Time:Receipt backend: Receives website origin, page title, page description, Chrome profile email, and Google OAuth token when needed for website categorization, subscription verification, or access checks.
  • Google OAuth / Chrome Identity: Used to authenticate the Chrome profile and provide an email address and OAuth token for verification.
  • Google favicon service: May be used as a fallback to retrieve favicons for websites.
  • Google Fonts: May be contacted if remote fonts are loaded by the extension UI.
  • Stripe: Used to process paid subscriptions. Payment information is handled by Stripe and is not stored by Time:Receipt.

Time:Receipt does not sell user data.

Backend Processing

For website categorization, Time:Receipt may send your website origin, page title, page description, Chrome profile email, and Google OAuth token to the Time:Receipt backend. The backend uses this information to verify access and return a website category.

For subscription verification, Time:Receipt may send your Chrome profile email and Google OAuth token to the Time:Receipt backend. OAuth tokens are used for verification and are not sold.

Data Retention

Data stored locally remains on your device until you delete it, reset extension data, or uninstall the extension. Backend requests may be processed temporarily to provide categorization and subscription verification.

Your Choices

You can delete local extension data by uninstalling Time:Receipt or using any reset/delete controls provided in the extension. You can also revoke Google account access from your Google account permissions page.
